FAQ

Here you will find the most important answers to frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered here, please send an e-mail to vseth-it-support@ethz.ch

The login works via SWITCH.

The book exchange is primarily intended for all students at ETH Zurich. However, it is also partly used by students from other Zurich universities. In principle, anyone with a SWITCH login can use the Book Exchange service.

Over 60 organisations throughout Switzerland, mainly universities and colleges. Here you will find a detailed list of the organisations that have a SWITCH login: https://www.switch.ch/aai/participants/homeorgs/

You visit the website bb.vseth.ethz.ch and log in. Then you click on "verkaufen" under books. Then you enter the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and the website should recognize your book and provide more details. Then you set a price, select a condition of the book and write a comment if necessary

I have the 8th edition of Neil A. Campbell's biology book at home and I don't need it anymore. I log on to bb.vseth.ethz.ch and enter the ISBN. Since I have never used it, I select the state of the book "Ausgepackt und doch nie gebraucht" and set the price to CHF 60. As a comment I write: "Really only opened once".

You will receive an email with the email address of the buyer and a possible message that the buyer could type in. The best thing to do is to contact the buyer now and you can arrange the time, place and payment.

You visit the website bb.vseth.ethz.ch and log in. Then you click on "suchen" under books. You can then search for a book by title, author, ISBN or publisher.

The strict search makes a direct comparison, but does not distinguish between upper and lower case. Example: Analysis by title only returns books with the same name, i.e. in particular not Analysis 1, Analysis 2, Analysis Vol. 1, etc.

Click on "dieses Buch kaufen". You now have the possibility to write a message to the seller or simply click on "buy". The seller will then receive your e-mail address. If you wish, you can have a confirmation sent to you so that you also have the seller's e-mail address. Now you can contact the seller and arrange the place, time and payment.

Try to contact the buyer or seller again. If this does not work, you have the possibility to report complaints and dubious users at bb@vseth.ethz.ch
