Bouncer

Brief description

The Bouncer may be accessed on bouncer.vseth.ethz.ch by VSETH actives and may be used to perform Contact Tracing. The user will log into the tool upon entering a room and is thus able to record the times of their stay independently. This works via the VSETH account, which means that the information form must only be filled in once. Bouncer may be used by all organisations obtaining their space infrastructure from VSETH.

General

VSETH offers space infrastructure to its organisational units, student associations and other organisations. Thereby VSETH is responsible for ensuring a sensible Contact Tracing on its premises. The Bouncer provides a simple solution to this problem.

Features

The Bouncer entails the following features:

  1. Entering premise use: Each person who entered the necessary contact information into their VSETH account may enter themselves for premise use. The data entered is used in Contact Tracing. The number of workspaces is limited in all rooms and the rooms cannot be overbooked.
To avoid unnecessary room occupation due to visit end times not being recorded, all workstations are released automatically at 4 a.m.
The Bouncer offers the following room overviews:
    1. Searchable list of all available spaces on the homepage.
    2. A list of spaces one is currently occupying on the homepage as well. The sign out may be registered directly from there.
    3. Simplified sign in/out of one's preferred spaces directly from the homepage. This selection may be configured under "Account".
  2. Tracking contactsSince the number of cases is increasing rapidly, it is possible that the assigned cantonal authorities may be temporarily ill and may not be able to contact the contacts made in a timely manner. For this reason, VSETH supplements conventional contact tracing with its own follow-up. If an infection occurs and is entered in the Bouncer, e-mails are automatically sent to contact persons. If there are still questions after receiving such a mail, the message may be simply replied to.
  3. Reservation of workplaces in offices: The bouncer also allows workplaces in offices to be reserved for a certain period of time. Workplaces should not be reserved preventively, but only if the intention is to use them within the reserved period.
There are two different types of reservations:
    1. Immediate reservation for the duration of one hour. This makes it possible to keep the workstation free while you are on your way to work.
    2. Reservation ahead of time for an arbitrary amount of time. This reservation must be placed at least the day before. Optionally, a publicly viewable description may be entered.
  4. Reservation of meeting rooms: The Bouncer allows the reservation of meeting rooms for specific periods of time. Such a reservation entails the entire room and does not occupy a workplace. These reservations are only possible at least the day before the meeting. A publicly viewable description is mandatory and the maximum occupancy must not be exceeded during the meetings.

Customer benefits

The Bouncer offers the following advantages when compared with other Contact Tracing tools:

  1. The tool is tailored to the VSETH use case and offers a simple user interface.
  2. The Bouncer facilitates the work for the user as well as the association through the use of VSETH accounts.
  3. The data is not store on a Google Sheet in GSuite but in a datacenter in Europe.

Customer groups and pricing

This service is highly recommended to all VSETH organs, student associations and associated organisations which obtain offices from VSETH. Its use is free of charge.

Dependencies

To user Bouncer, an office or similar space at ETH and obtained through VSETH is necessary. In order to log into bouncer.vseth.ethz.ch, a SWITCH-login is required which is already owned by all students of ETH.

Configuration and order

The service does not require an order.

The configuration required is the correct setting of roles and thus awarding of permissions on Bouncer.

The Contact Tracing role may be awarded to all groups which are intended to use Contact Tracing. The role is called "contact-tracing"

The space admin role may also be awarded to groups. However, due to the high authorisation level, we recommend to only award this role to a select few people. The role is formatted as follows: "admin_building_floor_number" e.g. for CAB E 13 the role is "admin_cab_e_13"

Support

Support is provided through the service owner who does so on a voluntary basis.
